New South Wales is home to many fine instruments including the largest 19th century pipe organ in the world: the world-famous five-manual Grand Organ in the Sydney Town Hall.
Many splendid pipe organs were imported to NSW from the United Kingdom in the 19th century and some of these are now of international significance as unaltered or restored examples of their builder's work.
NSW is also home to the largest instrument ever built by an Australian organ buider: the five-manual Grand Organ in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House.
While most of the state's pipe organs are located in and around Sydney, there are also many unique pipe organs in regional and rural NSW, from small instruments by local and overseas builders in country churches, to large Cathedral and University organs in cities such as Newcastle and Goulburn.
